Cheap speakers
Speakers can make or break your gaming/movie/audio experience. Cheap speakers will lack volume and definition, and when you try to shake your room with bass you'll end up with a muddled disarray of noises. Investing in a good quality speaker system enhances every part of your computing experience. Imagine playing a game and pinpointing your enemy just by listening for their footsteps. Or watching Jurassic Park and the room shakes as the T-rex approaches you. The possibilities are endless.
My recommendation would be to get a 5.1 Surround Sound System because the prices are now so cheap. It's simply a no-brainer when deciding between a 3 piece System and a 5 pieces System when the difference in price is so small. Seven speaker systems are now also affordable, but are not as practical as a good 5.1 system. I use my computer in place of my stereo and also for watching films and DVDs, so it is important to me to have good quality sound - and it is great that it is now very cheap to buy quality speakers!
So what speakers would I recommend?
HOME THEATER
Well this is the case where you definitely have to spend a lot of money for the speakers. After all, how good your home theater system is will mostly depend on the speakers and sound card you buy.
Currently, computer speaker systems come close to matching regular home
theater systems at a fraction of the price. The Logitech Z-5500
5.1 Digital speaker system is one of the best 5.1 setups you can
get for your computer. If you're considering getting a 7.1 system, you only
really need it if your room is very big and need the extra speakers to fill
the room with sound.
Logitech X-530 6-Piece Speaker System
The successor to the highly touted Logitech Z-640, the X-530 will you give you the home theater experience on a budget. At lower than $50 dollars for 6 speakers, you are getting a real bargain.

For a multimedia PC, audio plays as vital a role as the video so invest in the same quality speakers we mentioned for the Home Theater PC. Since your speakers will probably outlast your monitor and other computer components, invest in a quality set now and enjoy them.
Gaming is one area where opinions branch on speakers. Some casual gamers love blasting their speakers and feeling the game. Hardcore gamers love a quality pair of headphones instead. The difference is that headphones, since they are closer to your ears, are able to provide better spatial relations within the game. This helps immensely when playing First Person Shooters. Also many LAN gamers respect the privacy of other gamers and will listen to their game on their own headphones instead of blasting it and in the process annoying other gamers.
We recommend trying out different headphones and see if they feel comfortable since you'll probably be wearing them for hours on end. If you need a recommendation, we highly recommend you get a pair of Grado SR-60s. These are audiophile level and you'll be immersed into your games. Definitely go with high quality headphones.
Even though everyone would probably recommend you to buy 2.1 speakers for a budget PC I definitely think different. Logitech z640 speakers are so amazing for the cheap price that they are selling for, that I think it would be a waste of money to go and save 10-20 dollars by buying a 2.1 speakers set.
| I have found this amazing deal on Logitech six-speaker system. It has a patented subwoofer design that delivers twice the bass energy of conventional designs. I have Logitech Z-540 speakers which are 5 piece set and an older model. Anyway, I am really satisfied with my Z-540 speakers and this is Z640 we are talking about. Z 640 are newer, better, have one more speaker, and even cheaper on this cool deal. You can click on the picture to see more details on these cool speakers. |
For a business PC you will need no more than 2.1 (two speakers and one subwoofer) set. If you want more private speakers, get a good pair of headphones. Again, we recommend the Grado SR-60s. Although they may look a little retro, the sound they produce is awesome.
