Yvonne’s concerns about privacy!
I have a question on hard drives…..for as much as I use at work and
home, I still am in the dark regarding some things. Outside of
documents, pictures, music stored on your hard drive; does it also store
websites and emails…I can work offline on my computer, but have to access
the internet to use the web or emails….co-workers stated that our
employer can retrieve anything we do or view. Can you clear up…?
thank you!

Hello Yvonne
Thanks for contacting us at findcheapcomputers.com.
If you use a computer at work it is possible for your employer to
moitor almost everything you do using their computer network. All
email and internet access will be routed through a gateway which
will most probably have a security program which will have the ability to ‘log’ all
activity from any computer on the network, and also log which user was logged on
to that computer.
In addition, any files created by Microsoft Outlook or other email program will either
be stored on your desktop computer or on a exchange server internal to your company.
In either case your employer will have the ability to read these files.
Whether your employer has the right to read these communications is another matter entirely
and will depend on your contract of employment and the law in the country you live in.
Hope this helps!
