Sound Card for a Business PC
Most motherboards these days have ‘onboard sound’. This means that effectively the motherboard manufacturer has built in a soundcard so you don’t need to buy a separate one (the same goes for ‘onboard graphics’). Usually these cards provide good quality stereo sound through a 3.5mm jack plug (like that on a walkman), some more expensive motherboards are now offering onboard SoundBlaster hardware that will support more speakers and formats. You can plug in speakers that can cost anything from $10 upwards, or a pair of headphones, or even connect to the auxiliary (AUX) port on your house stereo.
Integrated sound will do just dandy for our office computer. The onboard audio chip most motherboards use will provide excellent sound and not tax the CPU. Some even provide surround sound for those of you who want the best sound even at work.
