Motherboard for a Business PC

As varied as computer cases and processors are, there is just as much variety in motherboards. If processors are the brains, motherboards are your nervous system, connecting all the parts of your body together. Different motherboards support different processors (Intel or AMD), have different features (Onboard sound or video), and different sizes. Since we are going with an ATX sized case with an Intel CPU, we will pick out a matching motherboard. Getting a motherboard with integrated features such as sound or video will save you money initially, while still allowing you to upgrade in most cases.

We’ll pair up our Celeron processor with the DFI 848P-AL (B0002S7LE8). This motherboard features support for P4 and Celeron processors, onboard LAN, 6 channel onboard audio, serial ATA and USB 2.0. With 5 PCI slots and 4 hard drive connectors you’ll have lots of room when you’re ready to upgrade your computer.

For an AMD processor you’ll definitely want to pair it up with an nForce2 type motherboard. The good thing about the nForce2 is that it comes with all the top features built in, for a good price. Features include serial ATA, RAID, onboard LAN, USB 2.0, S/PDIF and more. The Chaintech 7NJL6 (B0002XDPEI) is a good, cheap nForce2 board.
