Monitor for a Budget PC

Depending on your preference you may choose a LCD or CRT monitor. A 15” LCD screen has a similar viewable area to a 17” CRT monitor as the way a CRT monitor is measured is a bit of a cheat – it isn’t the true viewable area as it is on a LCD. The cost difference between the two isn’t that great now although LCD screens are still slightly more expensive. It really depends on what suits your living space – if you haven’t got room for the CRT, or think they are ugly (they seem to attract lots of dust too!) then a LCD is a wise investment.

For the sake of your eyes get at least a 15” LCD or 17” CRT. This is one area where you do not want to skimp on because this is the main way you’ll be using the computer whether it is watching a movie or writing an email. In my experience Samsung branded monitors have never failed me. They produce vibrant and accurate colors and are cheaper than similar products from Sony and NEC. Samsung SyncMaster 153T (B0000E659J) is a 15” LCD and the Samsung SyncMaster C793DF (B0002739HM) is a 17” CRT.
