SCADA

March 14th, 2007

SCADA is a system for collection of data from sensors and data providers and managing that data. SCADA is actually an acronym that stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, although many people who use the term don’t actually know that.
Parts of a SCADA system include the signal input and output hardware, controllers, and user interfaces (HMI or Human Machine Interface). The parts of a SCADA system can be local, or located in remote locations such as other countries.
SCADA finds applications in such areas as climate control, nuclear power plant control, and mass transit systems and roadways.

Advantages of Videoconferencing Systems

March 14th, 2007

Most businesses these days require video conferencing systems, from online workers such as myself, up to multinational corporations. As you may expect there is a wide range of available equipment. The PC you are sat at now may contain video conferencing equipment - a simple webcam and the right software is all it takes to talk using video and virtual whiteboards over the web. If you use simple, everyday software such as MSN messenger (or Windows Live messenger as it is calling itself now) then you are video conferencing! Of course, there are much more sophisticated packages of hardware and software available, with higher resolution pictures, better audio and improved data sharing for business use. The most common business requirement is to be able to conference between many people at many locations.

These computers and their software are specialised equipment. A whole new business sector has sprung up in the last thirty years for credit card merchant accounts. Without this software the world would grind to a halt and economies would fail.
